YouTube Videos for Teachers

SmartTeaching.org have published a list of 100 of the best YouTube videos for teachers. A number of subject areas have been covered and the YouTube video links are organised on this basis. As well as videos for use with students there are some useful videos to support professional development, including the use of technology in the classroom and classroom management. Although really aimed at higher education, YouTube have also released YouTube Edu – where college and university video channels have been collected together in one place.

Although it should be possible to use YouTube in the classroom, if you are having problems accessing it or would like to insert YouTube videos into SMARTnotebook so that you can annotate them, don’t forget zamzar is an excellent tool for downloading the videos (instructions can be found in this post).

Searching for SMART notebook resources online…

SMART technologies have launched a google driven search engine which will just highlight links to SMART notebook files to help educators find and share notebook content more easily. This is sure to grow over time and is worth a look using a variety of key search terms to help narrow your search.

Lesson Activity Toolkit Version 2.0! The Update is here!

Those of you with an IWB who have found the templates, quizzes etc. in the Lesson Activity Toolkit (1.0) useful will be glad to hear that the new 2.0 version has now been released by SMART (thanks to Whiteboard blog for the heads up on this). You can download an introduction to the 2.0 toolkit here which gives an overview of the type of content. As well as all the favourites from 1.0 there are some new tools and templates in this version and I will aim to highlight some of these over the next few weeks.
